About The Position

The Plant Assistant is responsible for the safe and controlled start-up and operation of cast line equipment. This includes starting the machine, engaging the feed, observing the operation, and assisting with the changeover process. The role involves inspecting and measuring completed pieces to ensure conformity to customer production standards, and monitoring and adjusting controls to maintain product quality. Additionally, the Plant Assistant may coach and mentor assistants and helpers by providing clear instructions. Maintenance of equipment through assigned preventative maintenance tasks and minor repairs is also a key responsibility. The role requires recording quality and production metrics accurately and within deadlines, performing all work with a safety-first mentality, and utilizing IPS lean manufacturing skills. Related tasks may be requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • 2+ Years in a Manufacturing Environment experience required
  • Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
  • General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required
  • Ability to work in space limited work area on continuous basis.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis
  • Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices, with an emphasis on safety and injury prevention.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities
