About The Position

Johnstown, Colorado, a growing municipality of approximately 22,000 residents, is seeking a Planning Technician to join its dynamic Planning team. This role is crucial in managing the town's development, balancing traditional small-town feel with appropriate growth, infrastructure development, and oil and gas interests. The department faces challenges including implementing a new Comprehensive Plan, managing rapid development, and innovating processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and time management skills, excellent customer service, and effective communication abilities. This high-energy, high-production environment requires a candidate eager to learn, grow professionally, and contribute actively. The Planning Technician will handle diverse tasks such as responding to planning inquiries, reviewing building permits and plans, verifying zoning, processing business license requests, and providing administrative support to the Planning team. The position operates under the direct supervision of the Director, executing assigned duties in both routine and complex situations.
