This role is within the Business Intelligence & Planning Department, which focuses on empowering informed decision-making and driving strategic growth through financial planning, data-driven insights, and governance. The department's mission is to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable intelligence by leveraging integrated teams including Planning & Reserving, Portfolio Management, BI Analysis, BI Data Analysis, Data Quality, and Data Governance, fostering a culture of data excellence and financial foresight. As a Planning & Reserving Associate, you will be crucial in supporting the company’s financial planning and reserving processes. This involves hands-on data work to build, update, and maintain financial plans, including refining prior year plans. You will assist in reviewing actuarial reserving outputs and incorporating feedback to ensure accuracy. The role also includes creating and maintaining reports, analyzing results, and responding to stakeholder questions regarding financial plans and reporting. Collaboration across departments is key to gather inputs, ensure data consistency, and support the development of planning exhibits and projections. This position provides significant exposure to financial analysis, reporting, and actuarial concepts, allowing for technical expertise development and contribution to meaningful business decisions in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field is required
  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO
  • All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to perform VLOOKUPs, create pivot tables, and write custom formulas
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with data
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of relevant professional experience in an accounting, reporting, or data-focused role
  • Public accounting experience or corporate accounting experience
  • Basic knowledge of the insurance industry and financial processes
  • Exposure to financial analysis, forecasting, or actuarial concepts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support the company’s financial planning and reserving processes
  • Work hands-on with data to help build, update, and maintain financial plans
  • Work through prior year plans and refining them for current use
