About The Position

This posting is for Summer 2027 New Graduate opportunities. IMEG is hiring a Planning New Graduate in Fort Lauderdale, FL to assist in the development and implementation of planning projects. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one. You will support senior planners with research, technical deliverables, site visits, community engagement, and coordination with clients and stakeholders to help meet project goals and expectations within the project budget. The team you would join focuses on transportation and bridge work, helping communities improve mobility, Complete Streets, and public spaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, Architecture, or Arts, or equivalent required
  • None required
  • Skilled in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp
  • Good research skills, and good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organization and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the planning consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on planning issues, including demographic trends, land use patterns, and environmental impacts.
  • Support transportation planning and mobility needs with a focus on community-based needs, active transportation, and safety.
  • Assist in preparing maps, reports, and planning documents using GIS software and other tools.
  • Assist in preparing project concept and master plans, project exhibits, and renderings.
  • Assist in preparing site evaluation studies and entitlement drawing submissions.
  • Participate in public meetings and workshops to gather community input and provide information on planning initiatives.
  • Conduct site visits to gather data and assess compliance with planning regulations.
  • Work with public officials, developers, and community members to identify private and public projects.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations to communicate planning proposals and findings to stakeholders.
  • Provide support to senior planners in managing planning projects and initiatives, including data collection, drafting, basic Geographic Information Systems tasks, and shadowing client meetings.
