About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant City Planner, the Planning Intern will assist with special projects in the Community Development Department, with the primary focus being on the Citywide Comprehensive Plan update. This is a temporary position, 10-15 hours per week, lasting approximately 4 months.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent (GED, etc.)
  • Undergraduate degree in or enrollment of studies in planning, natural resources, architecture, GIS, urban studies, sustainability, or a related field
  • Maintains prompt, predictable, and regular physical attendance
  • Must be able to take direction and work well with others.
  • Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately.
  • Must be able to react to change productivity and handle other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with planning projects in the Community Development Department.
  • Assisting with the facilitation of public meetings and other engagement events
  • Drafting communications and organizing outreach activities
  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
  • Assist with projects for Plan Commission and other city committees
  • Administrative assistance, including but not limited to taking notes during meetings, drafting documents, and compiling engagement data.
  • Attending special outreach activities as required.
  • Performs related duties as required.
