About The Position

This Planning Intern position is a part-time, limited-service role without benefits, working up to 28 hours per week and not to exceed 1,456 hours in any fiscal year. The Planning Intern performs responsible technical work in the field of current planning, advanced planning, and environmental analysis. Duties may include assisting in the review of applications, performing work related to the administration of the City zoning program, responding to public inquiries regarding zoning, signing, and related matters, researching and preparing zoning and land use maps, plot plans, and related routine graphic displays, assisting in research and preparation of complex written reports, and taking photos, videos, and field notes as required.

Requirements

  • Must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student majoring in Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture, or a closely related field.
  • Competency in computer word processing and spreadsheet programs, Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is required.
