About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Planning Intern to join their team in Philadelphia, PA. The intern will work under the direction of a team of transportation, environmental planning, urban design, and public involvement professionals to support a variety of different planning projects throughout the region. This position is expected to begin in January 2027. AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 7-8, 2026. The event includes a networking mixer on Wednesday evening and interviews on Thursday at their Philadelphia office. This is an opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

Requirements

Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Studies, or another related discipline and must have completed at least 2 years of study.
Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign.
Strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to learn on the job and apply theory in a practical setting.
Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Assisting with report research, writing and setup.
Visualization, mapping, and document design support.
Support for in-person or virtual public outreach, including venue selection, minutes, and preparation of public-facing communications.
Data management.
