About The Position

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) is seeking a Planning Intern to join the Department of Design, Construction, and Management within the Office of Facilities Planning, Construction, and Management (FPCM). This role is crucial for the successful implementation of CUNY's multi-billion dollar capital design and construction program across its 25 campuses. The intern will perform space needs analyses, programming, and feasibility studies for CUNY Central Office locations in Manhattan. Responsibilities include managing and updating the space inventory system, working with facilities lifecycle assessment, and providing database and report development support by optimizing space records in Archibus, the Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS). This internship offers valuable experience in institutional administration, project management, planning, architecture, and interior design, and may provide credit towards NCARB's Architectural Experience Program (AXP).

Requirements

  • Must be a CUNY student
  • Enrolled in a CUNY college with at least 45 credits towards a Bachelor’s degree
  • Architectural, Interior Design, Planning, or related education, experience, or background
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Experience with Adobe Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Able to work under existing, as well as create new, project schedules and plans
  • Ability to shift between working independently and setting internal goals, to working closely with a small team

Responsibilities

  • Performing space needs analyses, programming, and feasibility studies throughout CUNY Central Office locations across Manhattan.
  • Managing and updating the space inventory system.
  • Working with facilities lifecycle assessment for all CUNY campuses.
  • Providing database and report development support for all FPCM departments through the updating and optimizing of space records and management in Archibus, our Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS).
