About The Position

EPCOR is seeking a forward-thinking Planning Engineer to help shape the future of water and wastewater infrastructure across the Southwest. Based in our Glendale, AZ corporate office, this full-time role is central to developing EPCOR’s 10-year Capital Improvement Plan. You’ll work with cross-functional teams, analyze complex data, and contribute to strategic decisions that directly impact the reliability and performance of our systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in water/wastewater infrastructure projects, including project management, master planning, capital improvement planning, or hydraulic modeling.
  • Strong technical writing and data analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic modeling concepts and tools used in water/wastewater system design.
  • Knowledge of ADEQ and NMED regulations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform calculations and technical analysis relevant to water and wastewater planning.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Power BI experience is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering license in AZ or NM and/or ADEQ Operator Certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical analyses on demand projections, infrastructure reliability, water quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct field testing and data collection to validate hydraulic and system calculations.
  • Analyze SCADA data, asset performance, and customer usage to forecast system trends.
  • Lead Master Planning Studies to inform long-term infrastructure investments.
  • Develop and evaluate alternatives to meet system needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare preliminary scopes, schedules, and budget estimates for future projects.
  • Apply prioritization methodologies to align projects with strategic goals.
  • Collaborate across departments to translate needs into actionable project plans.
  • Integrate hydraulic modeling and GIS data into planning workflows.
