About The Position

Under general direction, this role assists the Planning Coordinator with major and minor subdivisions for the County Planning Commission. The specialist will conduct research and prepare reports, proposals, and studies related to planning. Responsibilities include completing grant applications, conducting surveys, and coordinating activities with state, local, and federal officials. Additionally, the role supports Coordinators and Managers in developing economic development plans for Lorain County, including strategies and marketing plans to attract and retain businesses. Other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Urban Development, Public Administration or a related discipline.
• Three (3) to five (5) years related experience in private industry or public sector.
• Current valid Ohio vehicle operator's license and maintain continuing eligibility for coverage under the county's vehicle insurance policy.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations regarding Community Development Programs.
• Knowledge of zoning regulations, community development, grant administration, floodplain rules and regulations, subdivision planning, and lot splits.
• Knowledge of local geographical area and Lorain County business community.
• Knowledge of State and Local tax incentives/development programs.
