The Ministry of Energy and Minerals is responsible for sustaining the interests of Albertans through the stewardship and responsible development of energy and mineral resource systems. The Ministry Services Division provides enterprise-wide support services for the Department of Energy and Minerals and ensures alignment with and adherence to related Government of Alberta policies. The Business Services branch provides: Legislative planning and reporting. Coordination of the department’s policy, legislation and agency governance files. Coordination of the red tape reduction initiative for the department and facilities and accommodations services on behalf of the department for both the Edmonton and Calgary offices. The Policy Coordination and Agency Governance team in the Business Services branch of the Ministry Services Division is responsible for the policy and legislative coordination process and agencies, boards, and commissions for the ministry. Policy Coordination and Agency Governance provides strategic leadership for the department on cross-government initiatives and priorities. Core to this function is providing leadership on high-profile, cross-boundary initiatives. The branch serves as a strategic hub for the department and acts as a proactive policy/planning arm, employing techniques such as strategic foresight, scenario planning, and social innovation to drive new ways of thinking and planning in today’s complex energy landscape.
