About The Position

The Planning Analyst will provide direct assistance in all transit planning functions for Transit Windsor. This role involves route and schedule development, ridership studies, service efficiency analysis, and managing computerized databases. The analyst will also assist with the bus stop and shelter program, coordinate input into scheduling software, and manage farebox and ITS systems. A key responsibility includes creating and maintaining maps using ESRI/ArcGIS software for ridership analysis, service routes, and detours. The position also involves maintaining a geo-coded database for various transit systems, collaborating on run-cutting, service cost analysis, and budget variance. The Planning Analyst will liaise with City Departments on matters like site plan control, subdivision plans, zoning, land use planning, and major road construction projects. Additionally, they will coordinate with Transit Operations/Transportation regarding transfer connections, traffic priority measures, vehicle needs, on-street activities, and surveys. The role includes assisting with budget reports and generating statistical information, performing Occupational Health and Safety duties, and other related tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Must possess a post-secondary diploma or degree in the field of Urban Planning/Geography/Environmental Studies or Transportation Engineering Technology or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency.
  • Must have a minimum of 1-year experience in a related field of work.
  • Must have minimum 1-year Experience with ESRI/ArcGIS software.
  • Must have proficient computer skills utilizing the Microsoft Suite of products and be able to multitask.
  • Must have statistical analysis and analytical/problem-solving capabilities.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class 'G' Driver's Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct assistance in all transit planning functions including route and schedule development, ridership studies, service efficiency analysis, computerized database creations and utilization.
  • Assists with the bus stop and shelter program, coordinates information input into the Scheduling Software, Farebox and ITS systems.
  • Creation/maintenance of maps related to ridership analysis, on-street service and detours through ESRI/ArcGIS software.
  • Maintenance of geo-coded database for bus stops, IVR, ITS, Farebox, GTFS.
  • Collaborates/assists in run-cutting, service cost analysis and budget variance.
  • Liaises with City Departments regarding matters such as site plan control, street and alley committee, subdivision plans, zoning/land use planning, and all major road construction projects.
  • Liases with Transit Operations/Transportation Department regarding transfer connections, traffic priority measures, vehicle requirements, on-street activity, surveys.
  • Assists in budget reports and generation of statistical information.
  • Will perform Occupational Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program.
  • Will perform other related duties as required.
