Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, biology, ecology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in environmental planning, permitting or related work.
  • Working knowledge of key environmental regulations (e.g., ESA, CWA, NEPA, CEQA, TRPA, NDEP).
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong time management skills.
  • Experience with GPS/GIS and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in varied and sometimes challenging environmental conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams—including transportation, civil engineering, planning, surveying, geotechnical, landscape architecture, and environmental professionals—to review site plans, assess projects, and develop solutions that minimize environmental impacts.
  • Conduct site visits, collect field data, and perform biological and aquatic surveys to support environmental analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing environmental documentation and technical reports in compliance with NEPA, CEQA, and TRPA requirements.
  • Navigating environmental planning and permitting processes by coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies to secure necessary regulatory approvals.
  • Assist in preparing permit applications, monitor construction activities for compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and design specifications throughout project lifecycles.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and support informed project decision-making.
  • Assist in supporting project delivery through research and project scoping.
  • Build client relationships.
