About The Position

The City of Encinitas Development Services Department is seeking a motivated and collaborative Planner to join their team. Planners in the Land Development (Current Planning) Section are involved in various current planning tasks, including implementing ordinances, reviewing development proposals, assisting customers, and addressing local and regional planning issues impacting the City of Encinitas. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, or a related field
  • Six months of planning or internship experience for entry-level work (Planner I)
  • One year of progressively responsible technical level experience related to area of assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Planner II)
  • Two years of progressively responsible technical level experience related to area of assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Planner III)
  • Three years of progressively responsible technical experience related to area of assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Planner IV)
  • Verification of the legal right to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year with the City of Encinitas performing the Planner I duties (for Planner II)
  • Minimum of one year with the City of Encinitas performing the Planner II duties (for Planner III)
  • Minimum of one year with the City of Encinitas performing the Planner III duties (for Planner IV)

Responsibilities
