About The Position

This position will be integrally involved in the daily Transportation activities for Electric Boat Corporation which includes but are not limited to shipyard trade requests and special projects. The incumbent will need to exercise problem recognition and resolution skills and will be required to interface with various levels of management and shipyard personnel in order to ensure work completion. Compliance with safety, quality, environmental, cost schedule and process improvement attributes are mandatory. This incumbent must be familiar with D.O.T. Regulations. Strong computer skills are required and this applicant will be required to train and become proficient in the use of Pitch Catch, our material scanning and tracking program. Applicant will also be responsible for material flow including but not limited to: trade material fixtures, material storage, processing surplus of material and identification of stored materials. This role will be required to support material requests to various offsite locations such as Newport News, Quonset and other vendors. In addition, the selected candidate for this position may be required to help provide support to 2nd shift as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience working in an IT or technical support environment
  • Experience establishing, generating, maintaining and reporting on department performance metrics
  • Strong computer skills
  • Familiarity with D.O.T. Regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Working knowledge of EB legacy and enterprise computer systems, MRP, Oracle & JCALS
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft programs, e.g. Excel, Word, Access and Lotus Notes
  • Prior Shipping and Receiving experience
