About The Position

Supports a high level of work force productivity through the planning, scheduling, and coordination of manpower, spare parts, other materials, and equipment access for all plannable maintenance work in the facility. Maintains a liaison between Operations and Maintenance for planning and scheduling purposes. Maintains and ensures accurate data in the computerized maintenance management system and assists the maintenance supervisor with scheduling, and procurement, as it relates to maintenance activities and outage support.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and schedules work orders including estimating work hours, detailed analysis, troubleshooting and planning of the tasks to complete work orders, requisitioning materials and contractor services required, and scheduling the work.
  • Analyzes facility maintenance needs, plans jobs and oversees the preventive maintenance program for the facility including the ongoing review and improvement of the program.
  • Assists in administering outside contractor work.
  • Plans work orders and develops schedules required for outages.
  • Schedules work by priority and criticality without specific guidance at each decision point.
  • Enforces safety regulations and reviews pending work orders for safety concerns and established Safety Hazard Analyses.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Confers with maintenance and operations supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Defines, tracks, and reports on maintenance backlog on a regular, ongoing basis.
  • Performs research as required to address all work order needs including research of vendor manuals, vendor contacts, internet sources and the expertise of co-workers.
  • Prepare a majority of the requisitions required to support the maintenance department. Works with purchasing agent to assure accurate purchases.
  • Assists Maintenance Manager and leads in analysis of historical equipment failure and repair data, cost trends, budgetary performance, and other reports as requested.
  • Must acquire a thorough knowledge of the company's computerized maintenance management system.
  • Reads and understands schematics and technical drawings.
  • Completes the Corporate and Facility Training Programs within the time frame prescribed.
  • Follows standard safety procedures, corrects safety and environmental hazards, and reports them to the Shift Supervisor immediately. Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Flexible to work overtime and rotating shifts, if necessary.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio or face to face.
  • Anticipates typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and take appropriate action. Troubleshoot equipment and assist in diagnosing problem areas.
  • Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
