About The Position

A training and development role for employees desiring to obtain a future role as a Production Group Planner. Working closely with an experienced Production Group Planner to support manufacturing through the creation of accurate and achievable production schedule based on material availability and labor resources, creates, releases, stages, and prints production orders, maintains accurate order completion dates, documents issues impacting order completion, maintains dispatch sheet(s), participates in the daily operations huddle meetings, set up and maintain material master data settings, works directly with buyers, planners, and project engineers to resolve scheduling challenges.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years’ experience in an applicable manufacturing environment
  • 2 years’ experience working with ERP/MRP systems (preferably SAP)

Nice To Haves

  • APICS trained or certified

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, verifies and adjusts MRP level production schedules to accommodate labor capacity, the availability/lead time of materials, space and documentation while maximizing achievement of customer/project/order schedule requirements.
  • Coordinates and schedules “walk-in” work requests to minimize disruption to scheduled work while meeting priorities of all demand types.
  • Monitors parts availability and expedites when necessary to meet production schedules.
  • Ensures MRP information in SAP is maintained, including but not limited to the following: Scheduled dates are correct and current BOM reflects latest changes. Manual dates usage reflects planning policy.
  • Monitors and fully utilizes labor capacity. Notifies work group supervisor in advance when future demand does not align with capacity and schedules cannot be adapted to accommodate the difference. Assists in balancing labor demand among different groups when needed.
  • Develops and recommends project/order schedule changes when current plan cannot be met.
  • Leads corrective action when schedules cannot be executed as planned.
  • Develops and implements engineering change notification plan as assigned by Master Data/EOC controller, including but not limited to: Coordinate MRP order and BOM changes, Schedules and coordinates rework, Validate implementation is complete.
  • Monitors and reports status or schedule change to internal customers.
  • Helps resolve any material related issues impacting manufacturing such as: Lost/missing parts, delayed deliveries from a supplier or warehouse.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
