This person has primary scheduling responsibility for multiple areas of the business, including but not limited to Assembly & Test, supporting the Missiles, Land & Sea Systems, and Turreted Weapon Systems business units. This person can expect to perform tactical planning and supply chain functions. This person will be responsible for communication and maintaining relationships with their cross-functional program teams for status updates on component status and kit releases. Additional responsibilities include forming and maintaining relationships with critical suppliers, ownership of status calls, and on-site visits as needed. Our Defense division in East Aurora, NY is looking for a Planner/Buyer to join our dynamic team! The Planner/Buyer is responsible for end-to-end planning and procurement primarily for our hydraulic servovalve business and other Defense Business Units within SDG. You will hold responsibility for: Program Planning and Execution: Reviewing demand inputs to align supply dates with program needs Providing reliable completion and delivery dates to internal stakeholders Collaborating with suppliers, production, and engineering to support component gating and kit releases Leading model status discussions with cross-functional program teams and releasing work orders to production Communicating risks associated with long-lead items and single-source suppliers Procurement: Placing and expediting purchase orders; monitoring PO status and delivery dates Negotiating pricing & lead-time with suppliers to meet program deadlines Escalating supplier issues as necessary Inventory & Systems: Providing program teams with status report-outs with effective communication Active participation in tiered meetings Supporting master planning with lead-time updates Individual contributor to cross-functional problem-solving initiatives and continuous improvement activities

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, and 2+ relevant years experience ~OR~ An Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, and 6+ relevant years experience
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Sense of urgency

  • Any advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus
