About The Position

The Planned Giving Officer is responsible to operate a comprehensive planned giving program which results in funds raised through the cultivation and closing of outright, irrevocable and revocable deferred gifts.  Responsible for developing and monitoring a personal portfolio of planned giving prospects and securing planned gifts from alumni, grateful patients and friends of Loma Linda.  Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Philanthropy or a related field required.
  • Minimum five years experience in charitable fundraising, marketing, finance, financial planning, sales or other related field required, preferably in healthcare or high education.
  • Proficiency in Crescendo planned giving software and Raiser's Edge fundraising software preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and to be self-motivated.
  • Must possess sound judgment and have capacity for short and long-range planning.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally present information one-on-one or in a group setting.
  • May be required to make public presentations.
  • Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to deal with problems and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.
  • Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
  • NAD Planned Giving & Trust Administration Certification required within one year of hire date.
  • Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Business Administration Degree preferred.
  • Experience in charitable estate planning preferred.
  • Certified Specialist in Planned Giving certification preferred.
