About The Position

As part of an integrated fund development plan, build, implement, strengthen, and evaluate a comprehensive planned giving program to promote current and deferred charitable support from donors, prospects, patients, families, volunteers, and community members. Cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving donors and prospects; engage professional advisors; manage legacy giving recognition and stewardship activities; and coordinate educational and outreach initiatives that increase awareness of charitable giving opportunities and support the mission of the VNA & Hospice Foundation. Work independently with guidance from the Director of Foundation while demonstrating the VNA Core Values of Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence at work and whenever representing the VNA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) preferred; three to five years of related fundraising and/or planned giving experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of charitable gift planning techniques and estate planning concepts.
  • Ability to explain planned giving options while appropriately referring donors to their legal, tax, and financial advisors for professional advice.
  • Current and valid Florida driver’s license required.
  • This position requires screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director of Foundation to identify, cultivate, solicit, steward, and manage planned giving prospects and donors in support of the Foundation's legacy giving program.
  • Develop and implement strategies to secure deferred gifts, beneficiary designations, charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, endowment gifts, and other planned giving commitments that support the long-term sustainability of the Foundation, in accordance with Foundation gift acceptance policies and in coordination with appropriate professional advisors.
  • Ensure all donor contact updates, cultivation activities, and stewardship reports are accurately recorded in Raiser's Edge.
  • Create strategic and multi-year cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans to achieve planned giving and legacy society goals.
  • Maintain stewardship and recognition activities for members of the VNA Nightingale Legacy Society.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Planned Giving Committee and foster committee members' engagement, understanding, and advocacy of planned giving opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local professional advisors, including attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, trust officers, and wealth management professionals.
  • Steward all active and pending estates, trusts, and other planned gifts to ensure donor intent is honored and required documentation is maintained in accordance with Foundation policies.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of planned giving education and outreach initiatives, including donor seminars, estate planning workshops, professional advisor breakfasts, Nightingale Legacy Society events, and the Get Your Ducks in a Row educational series.
  • Coordinate event logistics, volunteer engagement, speaker recruitment, registration management, marketing support, budgeting, and post-event follow-up for planned giving and community education programs.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop and implement an annual planned giving marketing and outreach plan.
  • Provide content, stories, and educational articles for Foundation newsletters, publications, website content, and other communications that promote planned giving opportunities and donor impact.
  • Work with community partners, professional advisors, and subject matter experts to expand awareness of charitable giving and estate planning throughout the community.
  • Assist in the review and evaluation of planned giving policies, procedures, and donor stewardship practices; recommend improvements as appropriate.
  • Work with the Director of Foundation on budget development and management for planned giving and educational outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of planned giving vehicles, tax regulations, estate planning trends, charitable gift strategies, and legislation impacting donors and planned giving programs.
  • Maintain safe work areas and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
  • Follow VNA Safety policies and procedures. Report accidents or unusual incidents immediately to the supervisor and People & Culture.
  • Attend required meetings and mandatory education by established deadlines.
