About The Position

The Planned Giving & Bequest Manager is a senior-level fundraising professional responsible for leading and expanding Bronson Health Foundation’s planned giving and legacy philanthropy program. This role serves as the Foundation’s primary subject matter expert in deferred and blended gifts, while managing a portfolio of donors and prospects capable of making meaningful long-term philanthropic commitments. Reporting to the Senior Director of Major Gifts & Legacy Giving, the Planned Giving & Bequest Manager will design and implement a comprehensive legacy giving strategy that strengthens donor relationships, integrates with major gift and campaign efforts, and builds sustainable future philanthropic support for Bronson Health Foundation. This role combines strategic leadership with frontline fundraising execution and is ideal for an experienced professional who can build systems, cultivate complex donor relationships, and drive measurable philanthropic growth through planned giving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 8–12 years of progressive fundraising experience, including significant expertise in planned giving and bequest fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success securing planned gifts and managing a portfolio of donors and prospects.
  • Deep knowledge of planned giving vehicles, estate planning fundamentals, and legacy donor engagement strategies.
  • Experience building or significantly expanding a planned giving or legacy giving program.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate sensitive and highly personal donor conversations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing complex gift documentation and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale a comprehensive planned giving program into a mature, high-performing fundraising function.
  • Increase the number and value of documented bequests, beneficiary designations, and other deferred gifts year over year.
  • Strengthen integration between planned giving, major gifts, and campaign strategy to maximize long-term philanthropic impact.
  • Expand and deepen the pipeline of legacy donors through proactive identification, qualification, cultivation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Position Bronson Health Foundation for sustainable future growth by increasing long-term philanthropic commitments and estate-based giving.
  • Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive planned giving program, including bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, trusts, and blended gifts.
  • Establish strategic goals, performance metrics, policies, marketing approaches, and operational processes aligned with Foundation priorities.
  • Develop and oversee a legacy society and donor recognition strategy to strengthen donor engagement and stewardship.
  • Create and execute strategies to identify, qualify, and cultivate planned giving prospects across the Foundation’s donor base.
  • Ensure strong alignment between planned giving initiatives, major gift strategies, and campaign objectives.
  • Manage an active portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors, including blended and complex gift opportunities.
  • Lead donor conversations related to estate planning and legacy commitments with professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity.
  • Develop individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans that deepen donor relationships and maximize philanthropic impact.
  • Partner with senior leadership, physicians, board members, and fundraising colleagues to secure documented bequests and planned gift commitments.
  • Collaborate closely with Major Gift Officers to incorporate planned giving strategies into donor engagement plans.
  • Support complex gift planning opportunities involving blended and deferred gifts for leadership and principal-level donors.
  • Contribute to campaign planning and execution by identifying and advancing legacy gift opportunities.
  • Educate and train frontline fundraising staff on identifying and referring planned giving prospects.
  • Develop relationships with attorneys, financial planners, estate planners, and other professional advisors to support donor engagement and gift planning.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Advancement Services to ensure proper gift documentation, compliance, and adherence to Foundation policies.
  • Serve as an internal resource on planned giving strategies, tax-aware charitable planning concepts, and legacy giving best practices.
  • Collaborate with Communications and Foundation leadership to develop planned giving marketing materials, outreach campaigns, and donor communications.
  • Design targeted strategies that increase awareness and participation in legacy giving opportunities.
  • Oversee stewardship efforts that provide meaningful recognition and ongoing engagement for planned giving donors.
  • Track, analyze, and report planned giving pipeline activity, commitments, realized gifts, and program performance metrics.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of donor intentions and planned gift commitments within donor management systems.
  • Monitor program outcomes and refine strategies to improve effectiveness, scalability, and donor engagement.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail in documentation, compliance, reporting, and gift administration processes.
