About The Position

The Planer Supervisor leads the team responsible for all operations in the Planer Department, ensuring the efficient processing of raw materials while prioritizing safety, quality and production standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing machinery and safety protocols.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve a common goal.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to address operational challenges creatively and effectively.
  • The ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Examples include time management, multitasking, and production targets.
  • Must be willing to work nights or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • General understanding of OSHA requirements, LOTO procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with QC/QA programs and tools.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs.
  • Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Actively address safety concerns through reporting, incident investigation and risk management.
  • Supervise daily safety, quality, production, scheduling, crew meetings, lumber inventory.
  • Proactive leadership that fosters teamwork and enhances IFG culture and standards including knowledge of IFG KPI and QMS (quality management system).
  • Partner with Department Manager to meet budget goals.
  • Lead team to meet production tallies and sales needs.
  • Conduct uptime analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to train on all workstations; knowledge of each lockout
  • Train, coach, evaluate performance and counsel team members.
  • Train, assist, and familiarize new hires with company work rules, policies, safety, communication systems and teamwork.
  • Organize program for cross training of employees to consistently work at acceptable production levels.
  • Coordinate with Dry End Quality Manager ensuring graders are achieving IFG quality standards.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving employee timecards for payroll and recordkeeping purposes.
