About The Position

This role requires a Plane Captain to launch and recover aircraft, perform inspections, fueling operations, and act as a member of various aircraft support crews. The position involves working in diverse conditions, potentially including inclement weather, high noise levels, fumes, and electrical hazards. The Plane Captain must maintain cleanliness, adhere to safety regulations, and document work using electronic and/or manual systems. They must also possess personal tools required for the job and may be asked to perform Lead duties at management's discretion. When assigned to outlying fields, responsibilities include maintaining communication, providing fueling services, and ensuring the safety and security of equipment.

Requirements

  • Must display a good working knowledge of inspection requirements and Company instructions.
  • Must complete a Government approved Plane Captain Certification Program for type aircraft.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write legibly and understand the English language.
  • Aircraft Plane Captain Certification
  • Aircraft Towing Certification
  • GSE Licensing
  • Airfield Operators License
  • Physical as required by NAVAIR 3710.1 Series
  • Valid State Driver License
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Completed High school diploma or equivalent
  • One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • Must have two (2) years general aviation experience, preferably in contract, military or commercial, or the equivalent.
  • Must have basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to pass comprehensive testing, demonstrate practical knowledge after training and successfully complete examination by the Plane Captain Board to become a qualified Plane Captain within 120 days.
  • Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Launch and recover aircraft in accordance with specific guidelines during day and night hours.
  • Perform aircraft inspections in accordance with published criteria.
  • Perform fueling operations using gravity fill and closed-circuit refueling methods.
  • Act as a member of an aircraft moving crew when assigned.
  • Perform aircraft washing and lubrication when assigned.
  • Act as a member of the engine rinse team when assigned.
  • Be familiar with and operate portable firefighting equipment.
  • Use provided safety equipment when working with hazardous materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work.
  • Comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment.
  • Document work accomplished on government and company electronic and/or manual Information Systems.
  • Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in the classification.
  • Pursuant to the specific provisions of the CBA, at the discretion of management, may be requested to perform the duties of Lead.
  • Maintain a communications link with line supervisory personnel and the on-site crash crew (when assigned to outlying fields).
  • Provide gravity and hot fueling services at outlying fields when assigned.
  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment (when assigned to outlying fields).
  • Perform other related duties within the job classification.
