About The Position

This position coordinates functions related to the daily operation of the university’s placement and testing. The coordinator serves as the primary representative for specific programmatic responsibilities as designated by the director and reports to a designated administrator. The role involves coordinating placement and testing related programs, ensuring policies and guidelines are followed, and assessing program and training effectiveness. It may also involve direct supervision of unclassified and/or classified staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling or other relevant field.
  • Two years’ experience in higher education or directly related experience.
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications (e.g. MS Office Suite, Cognos, and Banner).
  • Skill in written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
  • Skill in public speaking.
  • Skill in training/teaching students or professionals.
  • Skill in independent judgement.
  • Skill in organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of programming and training initiatives.
  • Ability to analyze or set national trends related to advising best practices.
  • Ability to be creative and forward thinking.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, sometimes unpredictable environment.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse population.
  • Must pass a security check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate placement and testing related programs and ensure policies and guidelines are followed.
  • Assess program and training effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings, conferences, or special activities.
  • May provide direct supervision of unclassified employees, and/or direct supervision of classified staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinate university testing services (ACT Residual, CLEP, Reassessments).
  • Coordinate the needs of the testing center (scheduling, registration and staffing).
  • Coordinate the administration of placement for math, foreign languages, chemistry and English.
  • Serve as liaison to academic departments whom set cut scores for placement assessments.
  • Oversee administration of placement technologies (Accuplacer and ALEKS).
  • Serve as department representative at campus events (e.g. DKS, Admissions Events and resource fairs).
  • Serve as liaison to various constituent groups relative to university placement and testing procedures and needs.
  • Collaborate with high schools, departments, colleges, and faculty members regarding departmental priorities.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
