Supervise and coordinate the activities of Piping & Refrigeration workers, training, coordinate construction based upon release of designs and job submittals. Also responsible for crew safety. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 4 or 6 years working as a HVAC technician or pipefitting
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling, Type II, III or Universal
  • Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, components & controls
  • Familiar with recovering, charging and evacuating refrigerant systems
  • Brazing experience required
  • Ability to handle physical workload
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint designs and thorough understanding of BasX SOPs

Responsibilities

  • Study production schedule and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Review blueprints, unit specifications and job change-orders to current work capacity and assign duties accordingly.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meeting production schedules, using knowledge of capabilities of equipment and machines.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Direct and motivate employees.
  • Coordinate work activities of piping & refrigeration workers.
  • Train new workers in operation and use of equipment.
  • Recommend the hiring and firing of workers.
  • Responsible for the day to day discipline with the assistance of the Manufacturing and/or Human Resources Managers.
  • Evaluate employee performances and recommend pay increases.
  • Inspect work in progress and finished products.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities between departments.
  • Coordinate training requirements for new workers in operation and use of equipment.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or workers.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve department goals.
  • Plan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications.
  • Cut and thread pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches and pipe threaders and benders.
  • Inspect, examine and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, observation and other methods.
  • Modify, clean and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings and the related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
  • Resolve problems such as obstructions or holds.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance.
