About The Position

The Piping Material Engineer evaluates and applies material engineering methods and standards to support the design, development, and utilization of materials used in construction and production. This role prepares material engineering reports, supports project execution, resolves technical issues, and coordinates with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures and relevant client design guides.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering applications related to plant constructability and construction materials.
  • Detailed knowledge of piping material specification software such as Smart Plant Reference Data (SRD).
  • Extensive experience with ASME, API, AWWA, ASTM, and MSS codes and product specifications.
  • Experience with BIM piping FabParts and LOD specifications (LOD 100–500).
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of standard computer applications and administrative practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate as required.
  • Relevant engineering experience as outlined in education and experience requirements.

  • Prior experience working on large industrial manufacturing facilities such as semiconductor fabrication plants or data centers.
  • Strong technical evaluation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in material analysis and engineering software.
  • Effective coordination and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard material engineering methods, techniques, specifications, and procedures using independent judgment.
  • Participate in the design, development, and modification of processes and methods for the manufacture and utilization of materials including metallic, plastic, and composite materials.
  • Analyze materials and components to determine mechanical and physical properties.
  • Review operating data, conduct tests, and evaluate results.
  • Prepare material selection diagrams and materials corrosion engineering reports.
  • Assist in preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
  • Coordinate material engineering efforts with engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, and construction teams.
  • Provide technical assistance and assist in resolving complex material-related issues.
  • Support project and construction management in identifying and complying with project material requirements.
  • Review and check the work of other material engineering specialists.
