About The Position

Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Piping Inspector to join our Technical Inspection Services team in Port Arthur, TX. This role is responsible for ensuring the Project Quality Plan and Project Execution Plan are developed and implemented. The position promotes quality awareness, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement, and corrective action to influence business success. Requirements

  • Must be able to walk long distances.
  • Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Must be able to stand for extended durations.
  • Must be able to reach in all directions.
  • Must have good visual acuity with regards to color, depth perception, and field vision.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold temperatures.
  • Must be alert and able to determine job-related hazards and recognize when hazards change.
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and clearly and professionally communicate with other team members.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required.
  • 10+ years of Piping inspection experience required.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry standard certifications preferred (CWI, API, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Capture results of inspection/observations and report in a timely manner.
  • Ensure suppliers/contractors have relevant, up-to-date codes, standards, specifications, and drawings.
  • Interface with the discipline engineer, construction engineer, field workers, and inspectors professionally.
  • Witness and monitor suppliers/contractors' work activities, inspection, and testing in accordance with the approved Quality Plan, ITP, Quality Procedures, etc.
  • Assist in the review of the Quality Plan, Inspection & Test Plan (ITP), Quality Procedures, and all pertinent QA/QC documentation prior to the commencement of any fabrication/construction work.
  • Verify the implementation of PTW (permit to work), LOTO (lock-out and tag-out), and other safety procedures.
  • Schedule and monitor ongoing NDE activities.
  • Work well in a team environment and communicate clearly and professionally with other team members.
