Piping & Ground Loop Crew Lead

Dandelion EnergyDenver, CO
Onsite

About The Position

As a Piping & Ground Loop Crew Lead at Dandelion Energy, you'll be the senior hand on the job site — executing GLC field operations including HDPE pipe installation, fusion, pressure testing, system flushing/filling, and loop commissioning, while keeping your crew organized, safe, and on task. You'll work under the direction of the Ground Loop Commissioning Lead and serve as the go-to resource for helpers on the ground. This is a hands-on, working lead role — you're not managing the operation from above, you're in it every day, setting the pace and the standard. No geothermal experience required — if you've been the senior person on a utility or construction crew, you already have the foundation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in underground utilities, pipefitting, plumbing, or mechanical construction
  • Some experience acting as a senior hand, lead worker, or informal crew lead
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record that meets company insurance requirements; CDL is a plus
  • Personal vehicle and ability/willingness to drive to job sites within approximately 75 miles
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs overhead and perform sustained physical labor in all weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a senior crew member or informal lead in construction, utilities, or a related trade
  • Deep comfort working outdoors year-round in physically demanding conditions
  • The ability to adapt quickly — job site priorities and tasks can shift day to day
  • High personal standards for quality and safety, and a natural tendency to bring others up with you
  • A team-first mindset and the confidence to keep things moving without a supervisor on your shoulder
  • Experience in underground utility construction, water/sewer main installation, gas distribution, or directional drilling
  • Pipe fusion, mechanical joining, or welding experience (HDPE, PE, or similar materials)
  • Heavy equipment operation (excavators, skid steers, forklifts)
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification, or other construction safety credentials

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily GLC field operations alongside your crew — pipe fusion, pressure testing, flushing/filling, and loop commissioning
  • Guide and support helper-level crew members on safe work practices, quality standards, and task execution
  • Install HDPE piping, dig trenches, and support restoration of landscapes to rough grade
  • Keep the job site organized, materials stocked, and equipment ready to go
  • Conduct equipment checks and model safe work practices at all times
  • Drive company vehicles to/from job sites (requires valid driver's license and safe driving record)
  • Operate heavy equipment (mini-excavators, skid steers, grout pumps) and help helpers build those skills over time

Benefits

  • Medical (including mental health), dental, vision, and pet insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Commuter benefits
  • Generous paid sick leave, vacation, and parental leave
  • Learning & development support, including on-the-job training and virtual courses
  • Pet insurance
