About The Position

This role is for a Senior Piping Engineer who will contribute technical leadership to impactful, multidisciplinary projects supporting safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mining, metals, and industrial infrastructure systems. The engineer will guide design, mentor other engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver solutions for thriving communities and industries. The position is located in the Sudbury Ontario office. WSP's Resources subsector is part of the Energy, Resources & Industry (ERI) sector, delivering end-to-end solutions for clients across Canada, with expertise ranging from economic studies and detailed engineering to procurement, commissioning, site management, and mine closure. The commitment is to meet and exceed the highest industry standards.

Requirements

  • University Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
  • At least 15+ years of piping engineering experience in mining and heavy industrial projects.
  • Hold (or be eligible for) a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
  • Proven experience solving real-world engineering challenges, from equipment specification to system design and integration.
  • Comfortable working in the field or onsite as needed and adhere to all safety requirements.
  • Working proficiency with mechanical design and modeling tools and continuously grow your technical toolkit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical piping design packages from concept development through detailed engineering, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with project goals.
  • Develop piping systems, specifications, calculations, and deliverables that support safe, reliable, and high-performing operations for mining, metals, and heavy industrial clients.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate piping design with process, structural, electrical, controls, and construction requirements.
  • Review designs, drawings, and engineering documents to ensure quality, constructability, and adherence to industry codes and best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior engineers, supporting team growth and capability development.
  • Engage directly with clients, contractors, and internal partners to solve complex technical challenges and advance project delivery.
