About The Position

We are seeking a Piping Engineer Energy – Remote. This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office. Your role Mechanical or Process engineering responsible for design, layout, installation, and maintenance of piping systems and associated supports. Supports the design and analysis of mechanical components, systems and piping designs for nuclear and commercial projects. Creates detailed engineering drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models for piping routes, equipment, placement, and plant setup. Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods and applicable design codes and regulatory requirements. Will specify piping materials, fittings, valves, and support systems and perform stress analysis using software to ensure structural integrity. (e.g., PipeStress, AutoPipe, MathCAD, GT STRUDL, ANSYS). Prepares technical specifications, requisitions, and vendor recommendations for piping components. Reviews of technical documents and drawings, such as General Arrangement, ISO, pipe supports, flow diagrams and P&ID), calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, data sheets, etc. Assists in routine development, management and implementation of engineering analysis, activities and programs to identify and resolve routine equipment and system problems. Works in multi-discipline teams on project-based work and ensures integration of design across multiple disciplines. Will conduct mentoring and quality reviews of the work of junior colleagues when needed. Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset. Working knowledge of ASME Section III and ANSI B31.1 codes and any other applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems is preferred. Design engineering experience in nuclear class 1, 2, 3 and 6 piping systems, valves, pumps and for Nuclear Power Plants is preferable. Must be able to apply technical principles in a logical and practical manner to resolve engineering issues or technical problems. Shall have excellent communication and technical writing skills. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. Works to assigned schedules ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work and initiates corrective measures to overcome delays. Receives instruction, guidance and direction from more senior engineers and completes duties as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical Engineering or related technical or Engineering Field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and regulations.
  • Able to complete complex technical work with limited supervision.
  • Higher-level knowledge and application of skills of fundamental principles and concepts related to piping and mechanical design.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nuclear industry preferred.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.
