About The Position

NorthStar Energy Services, a Quanta Services, Inc. company, is seeking a Piping Designer with a focus on natural gas transmission and distribution engineering. This role involves interfacing with the engineering team and being responsible for piping design deliverables from concept through final project completion. The position requires creating 3D piping models, developing drawings, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year experience using AutoCAD.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Highly Organized.
Detail Oriented.
Able to work effectively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

5+ Years with AutoCAD and CADWorx.
2+ years in the natural gas industry.
Detailed knowledge in the application of Codes and Standards, including but not limited to: API, ASME, ASTM and the regulations from 49CFR192.

Responsibilities

Create 3D piping models using CADWorx plant 2020 or newer versions.
Demonstrate expertise in conceptualizing and laying out equipment and piping from a P&ID.
Develop drawings and concept sketches to facilitate construction work.
Compile and distribute necessary documentation such as status reports, punch lists, sketches of completed work.
Collaborate, process, and implement feedback from the Engineering team during the iterative design process.
Design plans, sections, details, and isometric view drawings. Ensure sufficient product views and details are provided for fabrication.
Produce bill of materials (BOM’s) from 3D models and support the process team in compiling process deliverables.
Implement quality control processes, checklists, and take responsibility for completed work.
Investigate, review, and apply Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes.
Conduct independent QA/QC of drawing deliverables.
Assist engineers during the project design phase (standards review, gather calculation inputs, gather permitting requirements, etc.) as needed.
Examine drawings from other disciplines to ensure piping/mechanical drawings are accurately represented.
Evaluate third-party vendor drawings for compatibility with the intended piping/mechanical design.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to shifting project priorities and deadlines.
Collaborate effectively within a team environment to accomplish tasks.
Prioritize safety as a paramount concern.
Perform other duties as required.
