About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Piping Design Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN at the Y-12 National Security Complex. This role provides full-time piping design engineering support for facility and production area activities in Cat 2 and Cat 3 facilities. The responsibilities for the design engineer include providing design output documentation to support minor facility modifications. The types of design output documents typically developed by a piping design engineer within the Mission Engineering organization are drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, and calculations. The engineer will work with other engineering disciplines and other plant organizations to produce timely design output.

Requirements

  • ABET accredited BS degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, plus 10 or more years of relevant professional experience OR an MS degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, plus 10 or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Q clearance or ability to get one is required.
  • Must be able to do pipe stress analysis.
  • Familiarity with and experience in developing designs in accordance with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1.
  • Requires an understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment.
  • Requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees.
  • United States Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoPipe is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience in an NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design output documentation to support minor facility modifications.
  • Develop drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, and calculations.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines and other plant organizations to produce timely design output.
  • Perform field walk-downs and work in a production environment.
