This role is for a Piper AA at the Huhtamaki Plant in Waterville, Maine.

Requirements

  • Technical 2-year associates degree and/or 5 years as a pipefitter in an industrial facility.
  • Manual dexterity skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints
  • Ability to effectively communicate with written and verbal communications
  • Satisfactory work records including attendance
  • Ability to pass Huhtamaki hands-on pipefitter test.
  • Values similar to ours, Care, Dare and Deliver.
  • Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping, standing, squatting, bending, crawling, twisting and lifting of 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Confers with supervisor at the start of each shift to determine work priorities.
  • Receives instructions, blueprints, and work orders for the job. Develops working procedure for the job, material requirements, scaffolding and other equipment required. Calculates dimensions and bends required for piping.
  • Installs, bends, cuts, threads, welds, and cuts off piping and shapes and fabricates pipe to the particular requirements for the job.
  • Inspects and maintains facility piping systems, heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, water treatment and sewer systems, burners and heaters.
  • Sets up and operates various bending, threading, and cutoff equipment.
  • Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; removes and disposes old coverings in line with company hazardous waste procedures and EPA and OSHA requirements.
  • Makes hydraulic pressure test of piping installations. Checks and adjusts controls, gauges, and valves to achieve control of flow of pressure.
  • Notifies Supervision of potentially dangerous piping systems and corrective actions taken or documented.
