Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Location: Bellingham, Washington Department: US Puget Sound Reports to: Manager, Sumas & Puget Operations Worker Type: Employee Schedule Type: Full-time Work Setting: Field Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Pipeline Protection Technician. In this position, you will help ensure Trans Mountain assets are accurately identified and protected from external mechanical damage during ground disturbance , while supporting stakeholder awareness of safe practices around those assets.

Requirements

• Highschool Diploma required.
• A track record of delivering high-quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
• Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.
• A valid passport is required and ability to travel to Canada for required training.
• A valid State Automobile License is required and be able to produce a clean 10-year drivers abstract.

Nice To Haves

• Technical Diploma in related field and a Journeyman trade certification is preferred.
• ATV, snowmobile, boat, and spill response training are an asset.
• Line locator training is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Communicate Trans Mountain (TM) pipeline protection standards and practices to Trans Mountain employees and third parties.
• Respond to One Call Notifications including all required paperwork.
• Provide site inspection of activities occurring on or near TM Right of Way (ROW) to ensure compliance with, and provide enforcement of, Trans Mountain pipeline protection zones and ROW excavation conditions.
• Represent Trans Mountain in public forums to improve awareness of damage prevention issues.
• Analyze, interpret and utilize graphics and other information contained in drawings or generated by GIS technology.
• Identify pipeline locations using GI, GPS and line locating equipment.
• Inspect ROW to ensure compliance with Trans Mountain signage program.
• Provide periodic review and input related to Trans Mountain operational documentation including job plans, procedures and planning.
• Perform operational duties as required , including paperwork, sample can changeouts , delivery , and scheduling .
