About The Position

This role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of company-owned pipeline systems. The Pipeline Operator is responsible for daily operations, routine maintenance, and supporting pipeline projects to ensure system integrity, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted flow of product. This role involves working across field operations, maintenance, and integrity teams to monitor system performance, respond to operational needs, and proactively identify issues before they impact safety or production. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a field-based environment. It offers the opportunity to build hands-on experience across pipeline operations, maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance while contributing directly to safe and reliable energy delivery. This is a safety-sensitive position based in field operations near Midland, Texas. Candidates must live within or be willing to relocate within a 45-minute radius to support timely response to operational needs.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 5 or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • 1 or more years of experience in pipeline operations
  • Ability to complete written and electronic documentation using computer systems (such as Microsoft Office, SAP, or similar tools)
  • Ability to meet the physical demands and work environment requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to be on call outside of standard working hours

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of directly related pipeline operations experience
  • 1 or more years of SCADA systems experience
  • Experience with pipeline operation measurement such as meter provings, grind outs, etc.
  • Experience working with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated pipelines
  • Knowledge of procedures used to safely perform pigging operations, including launching, receiving, and inspection
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs
  • Experience coordinating with contractors and supporting maintenance or construction activities
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in both independent and team-based environments
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Operator Qualifications (OQ) or relevant technical certifications preferred
  • Technical training or an associate degree in a related field (mechanical, electrical, or industrial technology) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain pipeline systems and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of product.
  • Perform pigging operations, including launching, receiving, and inspection, to maintain pipeline integrity and flow efficiency.
  • Conduct routine pipeline and facility maintenance activities such as valve maintenance, strainer changes, lubrication, and equipment inspections.
  • Support pipeline start-up and shutdown activities and assist with maintenance and repair projects, including replacement of pipeline components and systems.
  • Monitor pipeline and facility conditions, identify potential issues, and take appropriate action to protect system integrity and prevent operational disruptions.
  • Perform pipeline patrols, leak detection activities, and corrosion control support to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations, including participation in spill response and cleanup activities, in alignment with company procedures.
  • Follow all company, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and maintain accurate documentation of required activities.
  • Apply Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Safe Work Permits, to ensure safe execution of all work.
  • Coordinate with third-party contractors to plan and execute maintenance activities, including scheduling outages when required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, reports, and operational documentation using computer systems and field reporting tools.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and operations teams to support continuous improvement of pipeline performance and reliability.
  • Support cross-functional teams such as Asset Operations, Integrity, Construction, and Damage Prevention on pipeline-related activities.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute assigned work independently while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic field environment.
