About The Position

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction. Work Local, Work Sureway! This is a full-time, seasonal position with a schedule of 10+ hours per day, working 6 days on and 1 day off. Overtime is paid after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week. The position is located in the Edmonton and Surrounding Areas, and there is no direct access to public transportation. We are looking for hard-working, reliable individuals who are flexible with their schedule and can work in physically demanding conditions.

Requirements

Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a pipelayer.
Responsible for assembling, connecting and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains and water mains.
Ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes. Aligns pipes and seals joints together with cement or glue.
Personal Reliable Vehicle
CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation

Responsibilities

Directs activities within the trench to ensure the pipe is laid to the designed vertical and horizontal tolerances using levels or lasers.
Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding, cementing or sealing with glue.
Monitors backfill of pipe bedding to ensure proper haunch support.
Install and repair sanitary and storm water, sewer structures and pipe systems.
Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
