About The Position

As a Pipelayer in the construction industry, you will play a critical role in the installation and maintenance of underground piping systems that are essential for water, sewage, gas, and other utilities. Your work ensures that these pipelines are laid accurately, safely, and efficiently according to engineering specifications and regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with construction teams, equipment operators, and site supervisors to prepare trenches, position pipes, and secure connections. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent leaks, contamination, or structural failures. Ultimately, your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of infrastructure projects that support community development and public health across Canada.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a pipelayer or in a similar construction role.
  • Familiarity with construction site safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity are essential for handling materials and operating equipment effectively throughout the workday.
  • Communication skills facilitate clear coordination with team members and supervisors, promoting efficient workflow and problem resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in construction safety or pipeline installation.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators and trenchers.
  • Knowledge of Canadian construction codes and environmental regulations.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Excavate trenches and prepare the ground for pipe installation using hand tools and heavy machinery.
  • Measure, cut, and fit pipes according to project blueprints and specifications.
  • Assemble and join pipe sections using welding, gluing, or mechanical methods to ensure secure and leak-proof connections.
  • Inspect installed pipelines for alignment, grade, and integrity, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Operate and maintain construction equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, and compactors safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all safety regulations and site protocols to minimize hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and meet project deadlines.
  • Document work progress and report any issues or discrepancies to site management.
