About The Position

Pipelayers are essential in driving production on site and in the trench. They are expected to have demonstrated competency to a supervisor, or designated mentor, in all Core Responsibilities of a Labourer. It is an expectation they adhere to the policies outlined in Hall’s HSE and are an active participant in site organization and safety.

Requirements

• Work on jobsites in the Nanaimo area
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a civil pipelayer
• High School or Equivalent education
• Physical fitness for high-intensity tasks.
• Lift up to 50lbs
• Employees must be clean-shaven and fit-tested for ½ or full non-powered respirators, as per Provincial OHS Regulations and Hall OHS Policy.
• Understands proper setup and utilization of laser
• Basic understanding of site drawings
• Understands and utilizes proper rigging procedure including choosing the correct rigging, clutches & shackles
• Motivated with a leadership attitude.
• Strong organizational skills and problem-solving skills
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills
• Ability to excel in a team atmosphere
• Exceptional customer service
• Results-oriented
• Desire to grow within our organization
• Only residents in the Vancouver Island are of BC will be considered

Responsibilities

• Drives production of the crew
• Ability to mentor/train labourers & pipelayers
• Direct machinery
• Can read drawings
• Identify soil types
• Understands correct amount of gravel placement around pipe prior to backfill
• Installs pipe at grade (PVC, HDPE, Concrete)
• Benching/Installation of manholes & catch basins
• Exposing and supporting buried utilities
