About The Position

This role involves assisting skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties and potentially working in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. The individual must be able to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman. The job requires effective math skills, the ability to eliminate waste, and a strong understanding of safety hazards and safe work practices. Continuous learning and improvement are encouraged, along with maintaining positive working relationships and producing high-quality, safe, and productive work. Feedback is expected to ensure all necessary resources are available for the work. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Prefer 2 to 3 years' experience as a pipelayer/top hand pipelayer.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
  • Must be available for overtime.
  • Ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.
  • Effective Math skills - add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Eliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
  • Learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work.
  • Learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.
  • Produce high-quality work, safely and productively at all times.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs. on an occasional basis.
  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction Wastewater experience preferred.
  • NCCER Core Curriculum and /or a High School diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
  • One year experience (level I), two years' experience (level II) and three plus years' experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry is preferred.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.
  • Wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.

  • Use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.

Benefits

  • Pay is $30 - $35 per hour depending on experience.
  • $120 days worked per diem for qualified candidates over 90 miles.
  • Work schedule 50 + hours.
  • Anticipated project duration is approximately 1 year.
