Requirements
- 1+ years of pipelayer helper experience is required
- High attention to detail and management of quality specifications
- Safety conscious
- Able to follow instruction from the pipelayer
- Able to support other positions as needed
- Strong communication skills – provide instructions clearly with sufficient detail
- Physically capable of performing heavy manual labour
- Consistent, reliable and always show up for work fit for duty
- CSTS 2020
- WHMIS 2015
- Ground Disturbance Level 2
Nice To Haves
- Underground utility rehabilitation / replacement experience is an asset
- Ability to mentor workers for advancement
- Confined Space is an asset
- Fall Protection is an asset
Responsibilities
- Assist the Pipelayer with installation of water, storm and sanitary pipe
- Follow the established grade for water, storm and sanitary pipe
- Provide a high degree of clear communication with the lead hand, pipelayer and other workers in the ditch to maintain safe operations and quality installation
- Continuous assessment of risk and implementation of required controls / mitigations
- Complete site documentation as required
- Participate in inspections and incidents - address deficiencies / issues through corrective actions
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity
