About The Position

Flippo Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a Pipelayer Apprentice to assist with laying and repairing underground utility pipes while receiving on-the-job and classroom training. The role also performs manual work related to pipe installation and repair and reports to the Foreman. Flippo Construction Company, Inc. is an employee-owned general and heavy construction business based in Forestville, Maryland, operating primarily in the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Baltimore, Maryland areas. Its services include heavy construction and utility installation, repairs, and maintenance.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Must be able to negotiate rough terrain and climb in and out of manholes, trenches, and other enclosed spaces.
Must be able to carry tools, equipment, or materials weighing up to 85 pounds.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Residents of Washington, D.C. are preferred.

Responsibilities

Help lay and repair water, storm, sewer, and conduit pipelines.
Assist with setting up and operating lasers and transits, and read grade poles for pipe installation and grading operations.
Inspect pipe for cleanliness and defects before installation.
Work in confined and enclosed spaces.
Maneuver and properly place pipe in temporary and final positions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays when needed.
