Pipefitter - Pass Christian, MS
About The Position
Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor that provides responsive, innovative solutions to increase plant production, reduce costs, and prevent shutdowns in industries such as petrochemical, refining, energy, and pulp and paper. We are seeking a Pipefitter for a maintenance position in Pass Christian, MS. The Pipefitter lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for various industrial systems. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman, with assigned duties checked frequently.
Requirements
- Must have experience or be NCCER certified
- High school or equivalent
- One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
- Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
- Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
Responsibilities
- Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems.
- Selects size and type of pipe and related material according to job specifications.
- Inspects work sites to determine the presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness.
- Plans the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
- Cuts, threads, and bends pipe.
- Assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.
- Joins pipe by means of threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
- Secures pipe to the structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers.
- Installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
