About The Position

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a talented Pipefitter supporting construction operations within a local Naval facility. SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 150 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

Requirements

  • In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
  • Journeyman Pipefitter card required.
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification required (may be obtained prior to starting work).
  • Proven experience with commercial and industrial plumbing and high-pressure piping systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of steam systems, vacuum systems, and high-temperature/high-pressure applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to install, assemble, troubleshoot, and repair complex piping systems and components.
  • Proficient in the use of plumbing and pipefitting tools, including augers, pressure gauges, leak detectors, threaders, and cutting equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of backflow prevention systems and practices.
  • Skilled in working with valves, regulators, and pressure control devices.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and follow safety procedures in industrial environments.
  • Capable of working in confined spaces and around operating mechanical equipment such as pumps and compressors.
  • Physically able to perform demanding labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted and more with assistance.
  • Ability to work in harsh environments including high heat, noise, chemicals, grease, and fumes.
  • Capable of prolonged standing, walking, climbing, bending, and crouching.
  • Must have required medical clearances/immunizations for working in sewage-related environments (e.g., manholes, lift stations).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain high workmanship standards.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair high-pressure piping systems, including steam, gas, oil, water, and vacuum systems.
  • Lay out, cut, bend, assemble, and install piping, fittings, and related equipment for new construction and system retrofits.
  • Repair and replace system components including pressure-reducing valves, control valves, traps, radiators, circulating pumps, expansion joints, and heat exchangers.
  • Install, maintain, and repair heating system components such as boilers, exchangers, expansion tanks, coils, ovens, cookers, and steam sterilization equipment.
  • Install and service high-pressure distribution systems, including natural gas, compressed air, nitrogen, propane, and oxygen lines.
  • Install and repair fire protection systems including hydrants, sprinklers, and associated valves.
  • Perform installation and maintenance of sewer systems, lift stations, backwater valves, and perform minor sewage line repairs.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems and associated components.
  • Perform seasonal startup, shutdown, and charging of central heating and cooling distribution systems.
  • Install, route, and secure piping systems, ensuring proper alignment, pitch, slope, and operational integrity.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine system layout, routing, and installation requirements.
  • Install equipment by completing system connections, positioning, securing, and performing operational testing.
  • Perform welding, brazing, and pipe fitting using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Select and apply appropriate gasket materials based on system type and operating conditions.
  • Utilize hand and power tools including pipe threaders, cutters, grinders, micrometers, and measuring devices.
  • Work independently to complete installations, repairs, and modifications with minimal supervision.
  • Assist in related mechanical trades and support multidisciplinary maintenance activities.
