About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring a Pipefitter to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems. Other duties may be assigned. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position. The position requires 3–5 years of journeyman-level experience and NCCER and DL certifications or licenses. No minimum education is required. The role may involve working at elevations, on uneven surfaces, or in confined spaces, and may require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds. Requirements

3–5 years of journeyman-level experience.
NCCER and DL certifications or licenses.
Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands and fingers to perform assigned duties.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and work at elevations, on uneven surfaces, or in confined spaces when required.
Sufficient visual, hearing, communication, and motor skills to safely perform job responsibilities.
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies; exercise sound judgment; solve problems; maintain attention to detail; manage stress; and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, and benders.
Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures such as radiators or tanks using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, including supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment according to specifications, using hand and power tools.
Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections using valve keys or wrenches.
Remove and replace worn components.
Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure holes will not cause structural weakness.
Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors.
Dip nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to obtain a coating that prevents erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action.
Perform other duties as assigned.
