About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking NCCER-credentialed pipefitters with IRATA or SPRAT Rope Access Level I, II, or III certification in the Houston, Texas area. This non-exempt role reports to a Front-Line Supervisor (Foreman). Duties are assigned according to specific procedures and work is checked frequently. The posting describes assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing piping and related systems, as well as using industrial rope-access methods to perform work while suspended on ropes or in difficult-access areas. The description also refers to a Boilermaker position that assembles, disassembles, erects, and repairs boilers, tanks, vats, pressure vessels, exchangers, and heaters according to blueprint specifications. The role uses rope-access equipment to complete industrial maintenance and repair tasks, and may include rescue operations, technical reports, and administrative work. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
NCCER certification.
IRATA or SPRAT Rope Access Level I, II, or III certification.
Basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches, and engineering drawings.
Basic knowledge of connecting flanged pipe connections using a cross-pattern bolting technique.
Ability to read and properly use a tape measure.
Ability to understand and use a framing square as applicable to pipefitting tasks.
Knowledge of proper power-tool use to prepare pipe for cutting, welding, threading, and bolting.
Capacity to work at height.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
CPR certification.
Successful completion of a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
Compliance with company and client job-site safety requirements.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

Use industrial rope-access methods and related equipment to perform maintenance, repairs, and other industrial work while suspended on ropes or in difficult-access areas.
Select and inspect appropriate safety gear for work tasks.
Select pipe sizes and types, along with related materials, according to job specifications.
Inspect worksites for obstructions and determine whether pipe-penetration holes could cause structural weakness.
Plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions and conflicts with other construction workers’ activities.
Cut, thread, and bend pipe.
Assemble and install metal and nonmetal pipe fittings, including brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic fittings.
Join pipe using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
Secure pipe to structures using clamps, brackets, supports, and hangers.
Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
Test piping systems for leaks.
Use power tools, including electric, pneumatic, and battery-powered tools.
Perform rescue operations, technical reporting, and administrative tasks as needed.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Assemble and disassemble, erect, and repair boilers, tanks, vats, pressure vessels, exchangers, and heaters according to blueprint specifications.
