About The Position

B&I Contractors, Inc., a proud five-time winner of the Great Place to Work award, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Pipefitter Superintendent to join our dynamic and expanding team. As Florida’s fastest-growing MEP contractor, we specialize in commercial and industrial projects (i.e., schools, hospitals, government buildings). The Pipefitter Superintendent oversees coordinates multiple project sites and field teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality installation and construction activities. This role provides leadership to Foremen and field personnel, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met. The Superintendent acts as a liaison between project management and field operations to drive performance and maintain excellence in workmanship and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of field experience, including at least four years in a supervisory or Foreman role.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, coordination, and manpower planning.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, hydronic systems, and applicable codes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across trades and departments.
  • Proficiency in computer-based scheduling, reporting, and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, project management software).
  • Strong understanding of FL Building, and AHCA codes.
  • Knowledge of DX piping preferred.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of quality, integrity, safety, and teamwork.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of Foremen and field teams across assigned projects to ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and company standards.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and submittits; review and approve procurement of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Plan and allocate manpower and resources to maximize field productivity and minimize project delays or conflicts.
  • Conduct regular project site visits to assess progress, safety compliance, and quality of work; identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Evaluate and mentor Foremen and field staff through performance appraisals, feedback, and ongoing coaching to promote professional growth and accountability.
  • Ensure all assigned Foreman are completing accurate records including daily timekeeping, daily logs, safety documentation, and all other required forms.
  • Coordinate closely with the BIM team to validate the precision and constructability of finalized shop drawings.
  • Work with the PM & Foreman to develop project manpower projections.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project management, foreman, and client representative.
  • Oversee the labor tracking process for assigned projects to ensure foreman are updating progress accurately and consistently.
  • Participate in jobsite meeting with project foreman on a weekly basis, aiming for in-person attendance whenever feasible (at least once every two weeks).
  • Uplift and motivate Forman and team members to promote healthy job-site environment and attitude.
  • Provide accurate cost to complete reports on monthly basis.
  • Monitor and coordinate equipment and material delivery dates with project managers based on jobsite schedules.
  • Provide approval for shop drawings in timely manner to CAD department and PMs.
  • Monitors look ahead schedules and identify risks early to avoid financial impacts.
