About The Position

The Pipefitter, Piping role is essential in the construction industry, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems that transport various fluids and gases. This position requires precision and expertise to ensure that piping systems are assembled according to blueprints, specifications, and safety standards. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently and safely. This role demands a strong understanding of materials, tools, and techniques used in pipefitting, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues on-site. Ultimately, the Pipefitter contributes to the structural integrity and operational functionality of critical infrastructure within commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized pipefitting apprenticeship or vocational training program.
  • Valid certification or license as a pipefitter where applicable.
  • Proven experience in pipefitting within the construction industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and fix piping issues efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with welding and knowledge of welding techniques related to pipefitting.
  • Familiarity with various piping materials such as steel, copper, and plastic.
  • Certification in OSHA safety standards or equivalent safety training.
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Basic computer skills for digital blueprint reading and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation requirements for piping systems.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools to fit piping systems accurately.
  • Install supports, hangers, and anchors to secure piping systems in place according to safety and engineering standards.
  • Inspect and test piping systems for leaks, defects, and compliance with quality and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals to coordinate work schedules and ensure timely project completion.
  • Maintain and repair existing piping systems, including replacing worn or damaged components.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment on job sites.
