About The Position

This role involves assisting in the planning, lay-out, and performance of all types of pipe fitting and fabrication work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The position requires the ability to work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision and to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman. The job involves hard physical work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperatures and outside conditions, including climbing and maintaining balance on various structures, lifting up to 50lbs, and frequent use of hands for grasping and handling objects. The employee must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures, wear personal protective equipment, and move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.

Requirements

  • One to two years of experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry.
  • General understanding of the craft work being performed.
  • Effective math skills – add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Learn to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work.
  • Eliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
  • Ask a supervisor before continuing if unsure about any aspect of the work or issues regarding safe practices.
