Pipefitter/Boilermaker Mechanic
About The Position
PBF Energy Inc. is seeking a talented Pipefitter/Boilermaker Mechanic to join their team at the Martinez Refinery in California. This role is pivotal in performing routine maintenance activities for the refinery, including the removal and installation of piping, various types of valving, tubing fabrication and installation, and mechanical equipment repairs. The majority of these tasks will be performed on process equipment essential for refinery operations. The job requires proficiency in piping layout and fabrication for threaded, flanged piping, PVC, and tubing. It also requires proficiency in installing blinds in process piping, pump removals, PSV replacements, and exchanger component work for maintenance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years pipefitting/boilermaker/refinery mechanic experience
- Active TWIC card or ability to obtain one
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in petrochemical or refinery environment.
- Journeyman-level abilities.
- Knowledge of exchanger, piping and tubing.
Responsibilities
- Perform bolted flange joint assemblies (BFJA) according to ASME and site standards.
- Be familiar with the use of torquing equipment for (BFJA), such as RAD Guns, Hy torque, and Slim lines.
- Follow site procedures and/or pipe specifications to identify sizes, types, or related materials, including supports, hangers, gaskets, and equipment components.
- Proficiency in Lock out tagout (LOTO) for intrusive mechanical maintenance work, such as installing system blinds and removing system components.
- Perform hydrostatic testing on piping systems and/or equipment.
- Perform exchanger and bundle work, including removing channel heads, installing blinds, removing bundles, and hydrotesting bundles.
- Safely operate hand and power tools such as saws, grinders, impacts, wrenches, pipe threaders, and pipe benders.
- Proficiency in tubing: cutting, bending, threading, and installation.
- Read and/or create pipe system isometric drawings for installation according to specifications and work direction.
