About The Position

This apprenticeship program is designed to train individuals to become skilled pipefitters over a four-year period. Apprentices will be responsible for daily pre-task planning, assisting journeymen with various tasks related to equipment and pipe installation, and learning the technical aspects of pipefitting. The program emphasizes safety, continuous learning, and adherence to industry codes and standards. Upon completion, apprentices may be eligible to take the Pipefitter Journeyman License Test.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous construction experience
  • Must successfully complete background check and drug/alcohol testing
  • Must have personal hand tools
  • May be required to register with the appropriate apprenticeship board as an apprentice pipefitter or welder
  • May be required to take specialty training

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily Pre-Task Planning of work performed in the field
  • Assist journeyman pipefitters or peers with the demolition, de-installation, rigging, fitting, and/or installation of equipment, supports, and pipe on site
  • Communicate clearly verbally, digitally, and in writing
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Proactively receive mentoring from a journeyman pipefitter or Supervisors
  • Use hand and power tools with proper certification
  • Learn and apply knowledge of piping systems, including layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation
  • Learn to read isometric drawings, construction plans, and shop drawings for pipe systems
  • Learn to inspect and test piping systems
  • Learn about piping industry codes
  • May be required to take Pipefitter Journeyman License Test after four years
  • May be required to travel
  • Maintain a good attendance record and comply with apprenticeship program requirements
  • Maintain a record of on-the-job training and submit to apprenticeship program as required
  • Other duties, as assigned
